EDUCATION IN CANADA IS FOR CHILDREN UP TO ADULTS
The education institutions in Canada are broadly categorized as elementary schools, secondary schools and post secondary schools. Post secondary schools include the technical institutions, trade schools, colleges, university colleges, universities and etc. Sometimes you will see further broad categorizations of Canadian education programs as:
* pre-school or early childhood education
* elementary or primary school
* middle or intermediate or junior high school
* secondary or high school and
* post secondary or tertiary education.

By law, children in Canada must go to schools till they are 16 or 18. If you and your family arrive in Canada during the school year, contact the local school board to find a school for your children.

We have prepared a list of each education ministry of the Canadian provinces and territories, the children usually attend the local schools within their school district catchment area. The local education ministry can direct you to the right local or district school boards. There is generally no upper age limit for attending post-secondary schools in Canada.

HOME SCHOOLS AND VIRTUAL SCHOOLS
In keeping with the modern education and life, homeschooling is very much accepted in all provinces and territories. Homeschooling in Canada continues to grow.

Online education has become a more preferred option for millions of students worldwide. You can complete some certificate, diploma or degree courses online in Canada. Many colleges and universities are now delivering on-campus courses as well as online courses, giving the students sometimes an option to choose either option to complete their studies.

ENGLISH OR FRENCH
Canada is a country that accepts two official languages: English and French. In most parts of the province of Quebec and certain provinces, the children can attend the full French schools whereas children of other parts of Canada have the option of attending either English-language only or English-language with French immersion schools.
